Obituary
Mrs. Wanda Fae Manning, Martinsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the early morning of Friday, October 18, 2024. She was 96. Born June 23, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was a beloved daughter of Thorsten Edward and Anna Gertrude (Brinson) Toms.
Wanda was a proud graduate of Decatur Central High School, class of 1946. She pursued further education at the Indiana University Dental School, where she became a skilled dental hygienist. For over 30 years, Wanda was a dedicated employee at Dr. Richard Falender’s dental office, where she not only served as a hygienist and dental technician where she performed much of the technical aspects of the office. She also managed the office with diligence, trust and care.
A woman of deep faith, Wanda was one of the founding members of Mars View Christian Church in Indianapolis. She was an active participant in the church choir and enjoyed taking part in hymn sings and retreats at Camp Allendale. Her faith was a central part of her life, and she found comfort in reading her Bible daily.
In her leisure time, Wanda enjoyed a wide range of activities, including crafting, baking, sewing, quilting and maintaining her physical fitness. She had a lifelong love of music and was particularly fond of Elvis Presley and Pat Boone. Wanda also cherished trips to Isle of Palms, South Carolina and the Tampa Bay, Florida area.
Wanda is survived by her loving children: Helen Henson, Charles (Teresa) Manning and Pamela Raymer; her cherished grandchildren: Shelley Henson, Erica Perkins, Marvin Messman, Richard Messman, Jason Manning, Aaron Manning and Nathan Manning; her great-grandchildren, Amber (Curtis) Lane, Kaylee Phillips, Austin (Brooklyn) Phillips, Breanna Phillips, Carly Manning, Luke Manning and McKenzie Messman; eight great-great-grandchildren and her dear sister, Talta Palmer. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Manning, whom she married on May 10, 1948; her great-grandson,Gabriel Philips; her brothers, Charles (Lola) Toms and Paul (Evelyn) Toms; her sons-in-law, Eddie Henson and Robert Raymer; and her brother-in-law, Cecil Palmer.
Funeral services for Wanda will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
