Obituary


Virginia (Ginny) Schubert, 83 loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on September 16, 2022 at Parkview Regional Heart Institute. She was born in Oregon, Wisconsin to Clyde and Verdie Powers.

Ginny grew up on the farm and was a typical farm girl. She loved horses and her sheep “Corky.” She married Laurens Schubert in August, 1958. They moved to Fort Wayne a couple of years later. 

She loved children and made childcare her career which she did for a little over 40 years. Her hobbies were mowing her yard with HER riding lawn mower. Shopping, family get-togethers, going to the movies and planting her flowers were some of her hobbies. She loved dancing, especially to polkas with her sisters.

Ginny is survived by 3 daughters, Eileen Schubert, Gloria Berndt, Nancy (Tim) Seliva, 2 sons, Charles Schubert (Jessica) and David (Angela) Schubert; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Also 2 sisters, Mary Tofte and Doris Schnabel; and one brother Charles Powers. 

She's preceded in death by her husband Laurens (Larry) Schubert; son Jerry Schubert, parents Clyde and Verdie Powers; sisters Helen Kopp, Roberta (Burt) West; and brother Harvey Powers.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. funeral to follow at 2 pm. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home. 8404 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
