Obituary

Susie Finnegan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother from Muncie, Indiana, passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 72.
Born on August 28, 1951, in Union City, Indiana, Susie was the daughter of Lewis and Rebecca "Janiece" (Long) Matchett. She found joy in reading, solving puzzles, and coloring on her tablet. Susie's greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family and caring for children in her daycare. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on those she served.
Susie was also a cherished member of the AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary Club for over 20 years, where she was affectionately known as the "Brownie Queen" for her delightful contributions to the group’s activities.
Susie is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Donald “Don” Finnegan; her mother, Janiece Matchett; her sons, Shane Finnegan (wife, Karen) and Ryan Finnegan (wife, Jessica); her brother, Steven Matchett; her grandchildren, Austin, Alexis, Jaylen, and Hazel; and one great-grandchild, Everlyn.
Susie is preceded in passing by her father, Lewis Matchett and her brother, Bruce Matchett.
The family has entrusted funeral arrangements with Garden View Funeral Home. Calling hours for Susie will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery - Muncie.
Susie’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but remembered with love.
