A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Steve Henson will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home in Gadsden, AL with Rev. Kevin Sapp officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Stephen Roger Henson, aged 69, passed away on July 1, 2024, in Glencoe, Alabama. Born on December 7, 1954, in Kennesaw, Georgia, Steve, affectionately known as "Silly Paw Paw," was known for his sweet, fun-loving, and mischievous nature.
Steve graduated from Sprayberry High School in Marietta, GA, and soon after began a fulfilling career with Alabama Power Company, where he dedicated 40 years of service before retiring in 2012. He was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church in Glencoe, AL.
A passionate motorcyclist, Steve cherished his Harley Davidson and the extensive travels it took him on, proudly riding through 48 states alongside his riding buddies. These adventures brought him immense joy and lasting memories.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Becky, and their sons, Daniel Henson (Staci) and Daryl Henson (Megan). He was a cherished brother to Susan Henson, Sharon Henson Stilwell (Jeff), and Ross Henson (Tonya). His joy was multiplied by his five grandchildren, Abbi, Chloe, Sawyer, Audrey, and Hadley Henson, and he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, John Ollie Henson and Joyce Brasher Henson, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Joe Brothers, Mike Thibodeau, Wayne Minton, Tony Franklin, Neal Alldredge, and Don Thacker. Honorary pallbearers are his fellow APCO workers, and his Harley riding buddies.
The family would like to thank Agape Hospice (especially Molly and Jillian) and his amazing caregivers: Christie Graham, Helen Williams, Stephanie Watson, Yolanda Ragsdale, Lucy Hamby, Tina Amberson, and Ann Deavors.
