Obituary
Ronald J. Pennypacker, 75, of Red Lion, PA, passed peacefully in his home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Born on the 20th day of June in 1949 in Washington Boro, PA. He was the son of the late James and Virginia (Walton) Pennypacker and cherished a loving relationship with his late father-in-law, LeRoy Tressler.
Ron (Ronnie) was a graduate of Altoona High School in 1967 and attended 4 semesters of college. He also proudly served in the Army from June 6, 1969 to January 8, 1972. He was a co-owner and manager of Total Craft Stores for 10 years in the state of Virginia and worked for the Virginia Public School System for many years until he retired.
Ron (Ronnie) enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. An avid hiker and lover of all things outdoors, he inspired many that he met along the trails and parks over the years. One of his most fun accomplishments was hiking 2021 miles with his daughter in the year 2021. He also enjoyed attending various fairs throughout the state and traveling with his family. He also loved gardening, swimming, bowling, camping. Part of his retirement years were spent volunteering at UPMC Hospital in York, PA in the emergency dept. Sharing kindness and compassion was just a natural thing for Ron to do. Ron (Ronnie) also became ordained so that he could marry two of his grandkids in 2020 and 2021.
It would come as no surprise that Ron (Ronnie) was active in the boy scouts in his youth and earned both the Eagle Scout and God and Country Awards. His zest for adventure, his kindness, his wisdom, and most of all his laughter will be missed.
He is survived by two children and their spouses, four brothers, one sister and a loving brood of grandchildren and great grandchildren. His beloved wife, Linda, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm, officiated by Pastor Andrew Cooley, at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Interment will take place at Meyer Cemetery.
