Obituary

Robert James Lehman, “Bob”, passed away on January 8th, 2024, in Roanoke, Virginia, at the age of 75. He was born on June 17, 1948, in Ft Wayne, Indiana. 


Bob was a loving husband to Sharon Peters Lehman and a dedicated father to his children, Kevin Tobias “Toby” & Brandon McGhee (husband), Marcie Shearl, and Grandson Dillon Godfrey. He is also survived by five of his siblings: Richard A Lehman (Fremont, Indiana), Cheryl Lehman Brock (Ft. Wayne, IN), Lois Lehman Noble (Ft. Wayne, IN), Janis R Lehman (New Haven, IN), and Kenneth J Lehman (Jacksonville, FL).  He also leaves behind beloved family dog, “Tilly.”

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Shaw Lehman, his father, William Robert Lehman, his brother, William Joseph "Bill" Lehman, and an infant son.

Bob attended Northside High School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. After high school, he proudly served in the Navy, where he was on the inaugural crew of the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier.  Bob later joined the Virginia Army National Guard where he was a member of the 229th Chemical Division.  

Following his military service, Bob embarked on a successful career with Norfolk Southern Railroad (East End Shops) in Roanoke. He committed 30+ years of hard work to his profession before retiring.

Bob will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his service to his country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Donations

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors Project for Veteran care in Bob's memory.
