Obituary

Richard B. “Richie” Grimes, 85, of Palmyra, passed away on Wednesday February 28, 2024, at MS Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Adele (Jahn) Grimes, with whom he celebrated 63 years in marriage.
Richard was born in Staten Island, NY on November 13, 1938 to the late Newton and Verna (Parks) Grimes. He was a US Navy Veteran. He retired from the NYPD after 22 years of service. He then retired from Derry Township as a school bus driver. Richard was a member of The Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Palmyra and a member of Knights of Columbus. He had many interests, which included: hunting, gardening, cooking, dog training, archery, and, painting. If something in the house was broken, Richard, a talented handyman, was sure to fix it. Spending time with his family, was always his top priority.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Richard W. Grimes (Livia) of Palmyra, Allison A. Alonso (Andy) of Annville, and three grandchildren Andrew, Amanda, and Alex. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Grimes and Janet Donat.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday March 6, 2024 from 10AM until 12PM at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main Street, Annville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 6, 2024 at 12:30PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 300 W. Pine Street, Palmyra, PA.
Burial will take place in Grand View Memorial Park, Lebanon, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N. Ramona Road, Myerstown, PA 17067.
