Obituary
R. Maxene Fix, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. She was 89 years old. Maxene was born in Laurel Fork, VA to her parents Avery and Elsie Banks. Maxene married her husband, Morris “Mutt” Fix on December 5, 1953, and they shared 71 wonderful years of marriage together.
Maxene worked as a secretary for several businesses including Layne Northern. Maxene retired in 1994 after 20 years of service. Maxene was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church with her husband for their entire marriage. Maxene volunteered in the church’s children's department; she also helped put on Vacation Bible school for many years. Maxene was also a member of the Indiana Women's Business Association and the American Water Works Association. Maxene enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing; she often made quilts to give to her dearest friends and family. Maxene also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and tending to her roses. She had the opportunity to take various vacations alongside her husband and friends to Florida and Lake Tahoe, CA. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, bubbly personality, and warm demeanor. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Maxene is survived by her husband, Morris Fix; her children, Mark Fix and Marty (Paula) Fix; her grandchildren, Audrey (Patrick) Walters and Claire (Quinn) Nelson; her brother, Lester (Mary) Banks; her several nieces and nephews.
Maxene is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Carlene, Thelma, and Tommy.
A visitation for Maxene will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 11:00 am. Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 12:00 pm.
