Obituary
Rebecca Lynn Yager, 69, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the early afternoon of Sunday, December 8, 2024. Born November 7, 1955, in Beech Grove, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of the late Richard and Martha Belle (Osborne) Vare.
Rebecca was a proud member of the Beech Grove High School Class of 1974. Shortly after graduating, she embarked on a remarkable career in administration, serving as the Logistics Coordinator for Ingredion (formerly National Starch Company). Rebecca’s dedication and work ethic shone throughout her 40 years with the company, culminating in her retirement in 2018.
A woman of deep faith, Rebecca was a devoted member of Greenwood Bible Baptist Church. Her love of the Scriptures was a cornerstone of her life and brought her profound peace and purpose.
Rebecca found joy in the beauty of the outdoors, often marveling at nature from her yard. She especially delighted in watching hummingbirds and tending to her pond, where the gentle sounds of its fountain brought her solace. An animal lover, she adored her Siberian Husky, Indy, her Australian Shepherd, Winnie, and her cherished cat, JoJo.
Family was at the heart of Rebecca’s life. She treasured time spent at bonfires, cookouts, and gatherings with loved ones. Her warmth and kindness were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
Rebecca is survived by her brother, Doug (Marsha) Vare; her niece, Bobbie (Shawn) Morrison; her nephews, Jeremy Vare and Troy Vare; and her honorary grandson, Matthew (Carol) Mirowski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford “Gene” Yager, whom she deeply loved, and her parents, Richard and Martha Belle Vare.
Rebecca will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her love of family, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life. Her spirit will remain a guiding light to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A service to celebrate Rebecca’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 16, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
