January 31st, 1951 - September 4th, 2023

Obituary

John Paul Piazza, age 72, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023.
A Mass for Paul will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church where Paul was an active parishioner.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12:00 noon.  Mass will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 12 o'clock noon.  Monsignor Charles Troncale and Father Gerald Holloway will concelebrate the Mass.
Paul grew up in East Gadsden, Alabama and attended St. James Catholic School, Litchfield Jr. High School and graduated from Gadsden High School. He grew up working at the Bama Super Market, the Piazza family business.  He retired from the Alabama Farmers Co-Op.
Paul is survived by his wife, Elaine Arther Piazza, step-son Andy (Jessica) Moon; grandchildren Noah, Kaya and Emma Moon; siblings Ann Koenig, Sandra (Harold) Boggio, Tom (Shelia) Piazza, Christine Ford, Michael (Tammy) Piazza, brother-in-law Adair Arther; sister-in-law Susan (Jimmy) Jarrett and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Paul is reunited with those who passed before him: his step-daughter, Molly Moon; parents, Vincent and Mary Piazza; siblings, Marguerite Piazza Kelly, Joseph Piazza and Helene Piazza.
Anyone who ever met Paul remembers his smile, his sense of humor, his infectious laugh and undoubtedly has a Paul Piazza story to tell.  He made every person he met feel special.  He loved life, friends and above all, family.  He enjoyed sports, nature, hunting, fishing, camping, birding, good music and time spent with family and his many friends. Paul genuinely loved them all.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the CCU and Select Specialty Hospital in Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, for their care and support.
