On May 24, 1928, in Catherine, AL, Palmetto Beasley began her earthly journey and on July 13, 2024, she started her heavenly journey. Palmetto was the third child of four, born to the union of the late William and Larcenia (McKlan) Beasley. After the death of both of her parents, at the age of 8, Palmetto was raised by her older siblings.

In 1945, Palmetto married Lindell Jones and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Palmetto became a single parent of the six children born to this union.

It was during the 1970's, Palmetto, affectionately known as “Pal”, became a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Senior Pastor Paul A. McDaniel. She remained a faithful member until her passing, serving God and her Church in many capacities. These included the Bus Ministry, Kitchen Committee, Club #7, Adult Choir, and Birthday Club.

Palmetto was known for her excellent cooking skills and abilities specializing in many wonderful dishes such as collard greens and cornbread, and her signature dish, sweet potato pie.

Palmetto was a dedicated, dependable, and capable worker, giving assistance and help when called upon.

The evidence of Palmetto’s generous heart was shown as she opened her doors to others in their time of need.
