Obituary
Ofelia Perez ended a life full of accomplishments and achievements on December 24, 2022, at the age of 80. If you knew her, you know this was a woman who always knew exactly what she wanted and stopped at nothing to get it. Surrounded by friends and family in her home in Pembroke Pines, FL on her favorite day of the year she peacefully moved on to her next adventure. Born in Havana, Cuba on April 2, 1942, to Paula and Ricardo Padron she was the center of their world. As a young woman her love of dance took her to Spain and made her a forever part of those famous Cuban Carnivals. Pictures of her sitting high atop the Polar Beer float are all over the history books. She danced her way right into the heart of Raul Perez. They were married for 54 years until she became widowed in 2015. In August of 1961 she left her home, family, and country to chase the “American Dream”. This island girl who had never seen snow landed in Queens, New York. Wearing a donated winter jacket, nicknamed “El Mono” (the monkey because it was brown and ugly) she worked her way up from the production line at McKesson Pharmaceuticals to CEO of Mason Vitamins many years later. Passion for her work, the people she worked with and the impact she could make on their lives was fundamental to who she was. This self-made woman passes on her legacy of greatness through her family. Daughters Veronica White and Monica Perez. Grandchildren Jack White, Robert White, Adrianna Juan, and Ryan Juan. As well as too many extended family and friends to list. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 5, at Vista Memorial Funeral Home in Miami Lakes, FL from 6 to 10pm. Followed by a burial ceremony at Vista Memorial Gardens on January 6 at 11am where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. You are encouraged to dress comfortably, bring a smile and a story. We look forward to laughing and remembering this epic woman with you.
