Obituary
Nicholas T. “Nick” Caromano, 79, of
Uniontown, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the WVU Uniontown Hospital surrounded
by his loving family.
He was born in Uniontown on December
23, 1944 to the late Nicola and Flora Alexander Caromano.
Nick graduated from Uniontown High
School, class of 1964. He then attended Arizona Western College with a
football scholarship, and then graduated from Pittsburgh Barber School.
He retired from US Steel Maple Creek
Mine after many years of working as an underground coal miner.
He was proudly inducted into the Uniontown
Hall of Fame in 2014 as a football standout.
He enjoyed wood working and especially
loved making furniture for his family.
Nick is a member of St. Therese
Church, where his wife, Monica Marie Jupina were wed on October 14, 1967.
Nick is survived by his loving wife,
Monica Caromano of Uniontown; three daughters, Nikki Ann Caromano and fiancé
Jeff Spinetti of Uniontown, Gina Marie Caromano of Uniontown, and Jennifer Lynn
O’Brien and husband Michael of Farmington; three granddaughters, Maria Nicole
Caromano, Finleigh Lauren and Irelynn Constance O’Brien; a sister, Mary Donna
Mihalik of Uniontown; a brother, Lee Caromano and wife Sylvia of Pittsburgh;
several loving nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lexie. He is also survived by many special childhood
friends such as Junior Pleban and cousin Danny Izzi; as well as Friday nights
at “Rizzo’s” with Anthony Mercadante and the crew.
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Maria Nicole Caromano.
Friends and family are invited for
viewing at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave.
Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Thursday, August 1 from 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday,
August 2 at 10 AM at St. Therese Church, 61 Mill St., Uniontown, PA
15401.
Interment is in Sylvan Heights
Cemetery.
