Obituary
Michael Robert Thomas, Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2024. He was 67 years old. Mike was born in Indianapolis, IN to his parents Hobart and Irene Thomas. He graduated from Wood High School. Mike married his wife, Julie, on July 28, 1984, and they shared 40 years of marriage together.
Mike worked as a laborer for the City of Indianapolis. He went on to work for United Water, Suez and Citizens Energy. Mike attended River Avenue Baptist Church with his wife until its closure. Mike enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia and model trains. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races- especially at the Brickyard track. Mike enjoyed antique shopping and spending time in nature with his wife. One of Mike’s favorite things to do was spending time with his brother, James Ronald Cones; he always enjoyed looking forward to and reflecting on their conversations. Mike also fostered a photography hobby all throughout his adult life. He was known to enjoy making others laugh and providing comic relief. He was steadfast in his opinions and will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Mike is survived by his wife, Julie Thomas; his daughter, Sylvia Thomas; his brother, James Ronald Cones; his cousin, Al Vance; his aunt, Jackie Clester.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Cones.
A visitation for Mike will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at a later date.
