Obituary

Michael Dean Stringer, 65 of Martinsville, passed away on December 21, 2024.

Michael was the son of the late Jerry Stringer and Virginia Kane and devoted husband of the late Debra Stringer, his beloved wife of 40 years. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Michael is survived by his son Chris Stringer, his daughter Cayla White (Stringer), his son-in-law Anthony White, and his three adored grandchildren Cohen White, Mahalia White, and Ryland Stringer. He also leaves behind his three sisters, Debbie McCartney, Diane Marr, and Sandy Sandefur, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Michael dedicated over 30 years to his career in maintenance, a role that took him to various states and countries. His unwavering work ethic and mentorship in his career were admired by all that knew him. Beyond his career, Michael had a passion for adventure, embracing life with a spirit of curiosity and joy. Whether it was riding roller coasters repeatedly at the request of his children, discovering new fishing spots, tackling household projects, building swing sets or playhouses for his grandchildren, or working on his cars, he always approached life with enthusiasm and determination.

A lover of Western and adventure novels, Michael read every book written by Louis L’Amour and cherished his nearly worn-out collection of Lord of the Rings books. He had a knack for making every new pet brought into the family home - much to his dismay - a lifelong companion. One memorable bond was with Petey, a cockatiel he initially resisted but later befriended, sharing cashews and caps of beer while watching football together.

Michael’s legacy is one of boundless generosity and unwavering devotion to his family. He always placed their needs above his own, ensuring they were cared for and loved. As a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, he was a constant source of strength and kindness. His love knew no bounds, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be Thursday January 2nd, 2025 from 10:00am until the time of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at Noon at the funeral home. Michael will be laid to rest next to his wife at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Michael Dean Stringer - a man of integrity, adventure, and immeasurable love - will forever remain in our hearts.
