Obituary

Matthew Shane Glaze, 49, Markleville, Indiana passed away from a long illness on December 27, 2024. Born on Feb. 2, 1975. 
Matt was a1993 Grad of Muncie Central High School. He climbed to the top of the solar windmills from Brivini and worked with Gordon Construction.
Matt has always been very proud of his sons through their journey through life and faith. He read Andrew his first book immediately after birth, "Hunkydory" his own favorite childhood book. He enjoyed taking them camping, fishing and canoeing with his Dad and brother. He liked playing cards and games with family and friends and also had a passion for construction and cars.
These last few years have presented many challenges and joys. He survived a car crash, 3 leg surgeries and months of therapy so he could walk again. He also had the privilege of attending his 2 older son's weddings this year and their college graduations. 2024 offered him a chance to witness the neighborhood plane crash, the eclipse, the aurora borealis, high winds that toppled 2 trees into his back yard, attending Alex's band concerts, cuddling his kitty Oreo, finding his special friend Megan, looking at Christmas lights with family and giving his friends and family hugs and saying "I love you".
Surviving are his parents Jeff Glaze, Lagro and Janine Wallace, Muncie; sons: Andrew (Jenna), TX, Adam (Katie) Evansville, Alex at New Lisbon and stepson Gabe Hawkins, Tipton; Brother Jason Glaze, Muncie, step-brothers Jeff Turner, CA; Daryl Wallace, TN; Mark Wallace, Muncie, Jerry Hunt and Ronnie Hunt, Wabash; step sisters Terri (Tim) Hunt, Hartford City; Tawny (Dave) Ciempola, Albany; Stacey (Ezra) Buck, Muncie; special nieces Kavara, Muncie and Jayla Slye, Muncie, who was like a sister, special friend Megan Lyall, also many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He married Mari Thomas in the late 90’s and Erin Lacy Hawkins in 2022.
He was preceded in death by his wife Erin Hawkins, grandparents Mary and Mark Glaze, Muncie, Charles and Clara Harter, Bluffton, step-mother Sharon Glaze, Lagro, step-father John Terry Wallace, Muncie, step-brother Johnny Wallace, NC.
Family and friends may call at Mt. Summit Christian Church, 508 S Walnut St, Mt Summit, IN 47361, on Friday, January 3rd, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Petty officiating atMt. Summit Christian Church. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Garden View Funeral Home; online condolences can be made at www.gardenviewandgardensofmemory.com.
