Obituary
Louis
P. Kraus, 93, of Hershey, PA died on December 20, 2024. Lou was born on Staten Island, New York, October
19, 1931, and was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary (Hoffman);
brother, William; sisters, Marilyn (Vonderheiden) and Lois (West), and is
survived by sister, Betty Rose (Lingle) formerly of State College, now living
in Salmon, ID.
Lou
is also survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret (Peggy) Rehbeck (married on
June 13, 1959); their three children, Nancy Brooks (Lynn), Steve Kraus (Elisa)
and Mike Kraus (Emily); five grandchildren, Stephanie Brooks Yeomans (Matt),
Tyler (Katelynn) Brooks and David Brooks, Shannah Kraus (fiancé Alex Young) and
Lindsay Kraus and great grandson, Cooper Yeomans. State College was Lou and
Peggy’s home for 65 years, until they moved to Hershey PA last August.
Lou was stationed
in Germany from 1952-1954 and served as an Army Medic during the Korean War. He
earned an associate’s degree from Penn State University and worked at HRB and
ARL specializing in electronics and torpedoes. Lou was an avid golfer and in
retirement played two to three times a week until he was 91 and was of course, a
diehard Penn State fan.
Friends will be received from 9:00am - 10:30am on Saturday, January 4,
2025, with a funeral service immediately following at 10:30am at the
Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home (formerly Heintzelman Funeral Home), 1034
Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Interment will take place at Centre
County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lou’s memory may be made to the
