Obituary
Louis Joseph Colombo passed away in Merritt Island, Florida, February 19, 2023 at the age of 91 after two courageous years of battling an illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Janet Colombo. Lou is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Denise Colombo DeMartini and her fiancé, Robert Harrison of Merritt Island, Florida; son, Louis Colombo and wife, Julie Colombo of Merritt Island, Florida; son, Michael Colombo and his wife, Leigh Colombo, of Moore, South Carolina; daughter, Linda Colombo Weisbach and her husband, Richard Weisbach of Johns Creek, Georgia; and daughter, Ann Marie and Fred Brodany of Stony Point, New York; eleven grandchildren, Cristina Cox, Emily Colombo, Louis Colombo, Santina DeMartini, Nicholas Colombo, Stephanie Dylan Weisbach, Penelope Colombo, Joseph DeMartini, Joshua Weisbach, Lisa Powell and John Gaffney; and three great grandchildren, Olivia Powell, George Powell and Giovanni Vito Gaffney are left to cherish his memory. Lou was also blessed with 16 beautiful nieces and nephews and 29 cherished great nieces and nephews. Lou was born in Bronx, New York, May 27, 1931. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Sol, Korea. Lou worked in the construction industry in New York City and Miami for over 45 years. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. He was devoted to his entire family and spent a great deal of his time celebrating life with them. Lou was a very sweet and generous man that was loved and respected by everyone he met. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, playing golf, loved to watch football and play poker with his family. He will be forever loved, remembered and missed by those whose lives he touched. The visitation will be held at Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N University Dr, Coral Springs, FL 33071 on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9:00am A.M to Noon. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. that same day at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, 1500 State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, with entombment to immediately follow.
