Obituary
Johnny Aaron Phillips, age 79, of Cedar Bluff, AL passed away on November 8, 2023 at Atrium Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA. A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Crestwood Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date at the Alabama Veterans Cemetery in Montevallo. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Johnny was born on May 1, 1944 in Gadsden to W.L. and Louise Phillips. He attended Emma Sansom High School and at the age of 21 was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served as a Military Policeman and was stationed in Vietnam from 1965 until 1967. For his service he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Defense Medal, National Defense Service Medal, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was proud of his service to his country.
He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Louise Phillips; brothers Leroy and Billy Phillips; and sisters Joyce Chapman and Jean Warmack.
Johnny is survived by his wife Violet Joyce Phillips; son Kevin Phillips, daughters Christine ( Steve) Pardue and Lori White; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Johnny will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband, and father who loved Alabama football and fishing. He was full of life and enjoyed joking and picking at people. He will be missed by many.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses, doctors and staff of Veterans Hospital for the many services provided to Johnny.
