Obituary
Mr. John Richard Eppley, Greenwood, passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, February 11, 2023. He was 97. John was born May 17, 1925 in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Guy Brinton and Anna Mae (Bossler) Eppley.
John attended The Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pennsylvania and was a member of the graduating Class of 1943. After graduation, John honorably served his country as a corporal in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He had been employed as an offset printer at the Army printing plant Fort Benjamin Harrison and retired in 1987 after 35 years of service. He also had worked as a projectionist at the Historic Artcraft Theater in Franklin and was very gratifying to him.
John spent some of his leisure time bowling in various leagues in Franklin over the years. He also enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with his wife and vacationing in Hawaii. John liked watching sports on television and was an avid fan of the Purdue Boilermakers, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Indianapolis Indians. John was a very personable man and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his children, John ‘Steve’ (Linda) Eppley and Donna L. (Ed) Morrow; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a brother, James Eugene (Shirley) Eppley and four nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Shirley Ann (Brandt) Eppley; a grandson, Jason Gullett and two brothers, Guy Bossler Eppley and Robert William Eppley.
A private family memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family and he will be inurned at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
