In Loving Memory of

Jason C. Davis

January 18th, 1969 - September 1st, 2023

Obituary

After valiantly fighting for over two years, on September, 1, 2023, Jason Christopher Davis lost his battle with cancer at the age of 54 surrounded by his loving family.  He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Katie (Madix) Davis, his two children, Ryan (age 23 of Tallahassee, FL) and Matthew (age 21 of Orlando, FL), his father, Ronald Davis and his wife, Elizabeth (Johnson) Davis, his mother-in-law, Colleen (Moriarty) Madix, (married to Joseph Madix b.1923 d.1990), his sister, Jennifer (Davis) Billhymer (married to Andrew Billhymer), brothers-in-law, Sean Madix (married to Gidget Madix), Kerry Madix (married to Stacey Madix), Michael Madix (married to Kimberly Madix), sisters-in-law, Shannon (Madix) Combs (married to Nelson Combs), Brenda (Madix) Lalande, Meghan (Madix) Utterback (married to Thomas Utterback, b.1946 d.2018), and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Carol (Hahn) Davis, who passed away in 1997.

Jason was born on January 18, 1969 in Champaign-Urbana, IL.  He graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1987 and went on to attend the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree with Merit in Marine Engineering.  Following his graduation from the Academy and having completed numerous additional schools and qualifications, he proudly served as a nuclear submarine officer onboard USS Parche (SSN-683).  He finished his naval career through a shore-duty assignment in Washington, DC where he was able to earn a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the Catholic University of America. After leaving the Navy, Jason went on to lead a successful corporate career resulting in executive leadership positions in companies such as GE, Covance, Tyco, Johnson Controls and AIG.

Anyone who was lucky enough to meet Jason would soon learn that he had a warm and generous personality and a great sense of humor. His smile would light up the room and laughter punctuated every conversation. He was an avid sports fan and loved rooting for his alma mater, Navy, the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, the Chicago Bears and his beloved Chicago Cubs. He had a wonderful singing voice and enjoyed music in many forms. He especially appreciated live music and going to concerts or outdoor shows. As one might imagine of a Navy veteran, Jason loved being on the water. When his family relocated to Florida in 2014, this gave him the opportunity to indulge his passion for boating. Many hours were spent partying out on the ocean or on the Intracoastal with friends and family. Jason loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He and his wife Katie were together since high school, and Jason was an utterly devoted husband and father. Jason was always happiest when surrounded by family. His booming voice, larger-than-life personality, dry and hilarious sense of humor, loyalty and love are simply irreplaceable.
