Obituary
Janet Kay Norman, Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She was 79 years old. Janet was born in Seymour, IN to her parents John Daniel and Vera Maxine Fulmer. Janet grew up participating in Rainbow, Brownies and Girl Scouts; she always remembered those experiences fondly. She graduated from Center Grove High School. Janet attended Ball State University, where she joined the Psi Iota Xi sorority, the Zeta chapter, allowing her to make many friends that followed her into her adulthood. Janet married her husband, Dennis, at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church on July 8, 1966, and they shared 58 years of marriage together.
Janet worked as an administrator for the Indiana State Police for over twelve years. Later, Janet worked on her family’s apple orchard; she ran the orchard store. Finally, Janet worked at her alma mater, Center Grove, in the special education department for over twelve years. Janet prided herself on making and raising a home for her beloved family. She was a talented cook and baker; she had many delicious dishes that she knew how to make from scratch- just like how her mother taught her. Janet was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with her husband for almost her entire life. Janet was also a member of the Eastern Star for many years. Janet enjoyed gardening, camping, motorcyle trips, and playing cards. Some of her favorite memories surrounded her family traveling to Florida for Christmas. Janet’s kind hearted nature and deep love of her family will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Janet is survived by her husband, Dennis Norman; her children, Duane Norman and Daniel Norman; her grandchildren, Steven Norman, Christopher Norman, and David Norman; her great grandchild, Liam Norman; her niece, Jill Miller.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John N. Fulmer; her nephew, Jay Fulmer.
A visitation for Janet will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 1:30 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:30 pm.
