James Anthony Perry

Obituary

Mr. James Anthony “Jim“ Perry, Plainfield, passed away at his home on the early morning of Tuesday, November 22, 2022. He was 83. Jim was born June 27, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late James Roscoe and Rose Marie (Thomas) Perry.
Jim attended Arsenal Technical High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1958. He had been employed with Allison Transmission as a machinist and retired in 1993 after over 28 years of service. He was a member of the UAW during his time at Allison. Jim faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Jim was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church of Plainfield. 
Jim spent much of his leisure time playing golf, fishing and hunting. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and would take trips from time to time to the casinos. He also enjoyed gardening and took pride in his rose bushes he tended to each year. He was a guy who could fix and repair anything. 
A lover of sports, Jim was president of the Stilesville Little League as well as serving as president of Cascade High School Athletic Boosters Club. He was very supportive and involved in the lives of his children and then later his grandchildren.  
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Bishop) Perry; his children, Mark Perry, Michael (Sharon) Perry, Jeffrey (Gina) Perry, Cindy (Doug) Stephenson and Christa (James) Stevenson; his grandchildren, Jarred (Megan) Perry, Matthew Perry, Jordon Stephenson, Joshua (Taylor) Stephenson, Brittany (Damon) Glaze, Payton Perry, Mackenzie Stevenson, Meredith Perry and Dane Stevenson; his great-grandchildren, Fisher Perry, Lane Stephenson, Hudson Glaze, Ty Stephenson, Sullivan Perry and Kason Glaze; a sister-in-law, Susan Perry; his Havanese companion, Maggie as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his son, James Matthew Perry and his siblings, Mary Elizabeth Perry, Patty (Donald) Payne, Richard Perry and Susan Perry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, with Rev. Rob Hausladen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens where military honors will be conferred by a contingent from the United States Army and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Military Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral ome.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Riley Hospital for Children.
