Huguette M. Cecchetto

October 3rd, 1932 - November 19th, 2024

Obituary

Huguette Marie (Moreau) Cecchetto, 92, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away
Tuesday, November 19th, 2024 at home, surrounded by loved ones.
Huguette was born on October 3rd, 1932, in Quebec City, Quebec Canada to Adelard
and Bernadette Moreau, the second youngest of 8 children.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Huguette and Leo married in Montreal, Canada in 1958 and started a family before
immigrating to the United States in 1964, moving to California to pursue the American
Dream. Life’s adventures took them back and forth from Southern California to Hawaii
before moving to Ormond Beach, Florida where they became U.S. citizens in 1999.
Huguette and Leo had strong connections to every city they called home, but Hawaii
made a deep and lasting impact. They raised their family on Oahu and Leo enjoyed his
greatest professional success in the islands. Huguette maintained her love for the
islands throughout her life, visiting many times after moving away.

She was a woman of many talents and impeccable taste, a proud homemaker and
whatever she touched or created, she strove for perfection and encouraged all of her
family to be the same way, always telling them, “Be the best you can be.”
She was an accomplished piano player who took great joy in music, art, gardening and
nature.. “Isn’t it amazing” was a regular refrain, as she took in the beauty of the world.
She survived breast cancer and heart surgery and lovingly cared for Leo for years after
his diagnosis with Alhzeimer’s, before he passed away in 2015.

Huguette leaves her four children, Marisa (Hal) Johnson, Honolulu, HI, Robb (Anne)
Cecchetto, Quincy, MA, Lisa (Joe, MD) Mirante, Ormond Beach, and Carlo (Jenny)
Cecchetto San Diego, CA. Along with 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and
many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Cecchetto, and by her siblings…
Jean-Maurice (Gemma) Moreau, Madeleine (Clarence) Giroux, Marie-Paule (Jean-Paul)
Pichette, Monique (Basil) Bonneau, Gertrude (Augustin) Cyr, Yvon (Lucille) Moreau,
Rodrigue (Aline) Moreau.

Huguette was a woman of great character and quiet dignity who treated everyone with
warmth and respect and was known by many for her class and impeccable style.
She was devoted to her faith and her family, and in her later years, was never happier
than when surrounded by family playing dominos.

Arrangements are being handled Lohman Funeral Home Ormond and there will be a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 26th at 11 a.m. at Saint Brendan the Navigator Roman Catholic Church in Ormond Beach.
