Obituary

A Funeral Service for Mr. Homer S. Anderson, age 77, of Tampa, FL., formerly of Palm Coast, FL., who passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 12PM in the LOHMAN FUNERAL HOMES PALM COAST CHAPEL.  Interment to follow at Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach, FL.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Homer S. Anderson, was born in Comfort Castle, Portland, Jamaica, West Indies, to Ida Raymond and Gladstone Anderson. His journey began in the heart of Jamaica, where he had nine siblings, received his early education and later ventured to Kingston, Jamaica, where he proudly served as a Jamaican Constable Police Officer. It was in Kingston that he met his first wife, Adell Ruth Phipps.

In 1970, Mr. Anderson embarked on a new chapter, relocating to the United States, where he reunited with and married Adell. Throughout his life, he wore many hats, working as a school bus driver, a skilled carpet installer, and a talented tailor. In 1976, Homer answered the call of duty once more, enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served his adopted country with honor and distinction, rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class before receiving an honorable discharge in 1992.

After 34 years of devoted marriage, Homer faced the loss of his beloved Adell in 2004 due to illness. Through life's trials and tribulations, he found love anew and married his cherished Charlotte Anderson in 2014.

Faith was a cornerstone of Mr. Anderson's life. He was a devout Christian who took great joy in Bible study, praise and worship, and sharing the teachings of the Lord. His love for music radiated through his compositions, singing, and his remarkable proficiency on the organ. Furthermore, he held a profound affinity for music, accumulating a vast collection of vinyl records.

Homer Anderson possessed a green thumb and a deep connection to the earth. He taught himself the art of gardening, nurturing a wide variety of vegetables and fruits with great skill and dedication.

In his pursuit of knowledge, Homer continually sought higher education, earning an Associate Degree from Fayetteville Tech and later a Bachelor Degree of Theology from Revelation Message Bible College.

Mr. Anderson leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his wife, Charlotte Rose Anderson; sons, Delroy (Joan), Homer Jr. (Veronica), Michael Ashanti (Slobodan), Jeffery (Kelly), and Lamont; stepchildren Rinae, Charlotte, Orrin, and Brittney Jones; six living siblings, Lola, Blossom, Seman, Ruthlyn, Isolyn, and June; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Homer S. Anderson's life was one of service, faith, and love, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his enduring legacy.
