Obituary
Mr. Gary Allen Sater, Sr., of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 89.
Gary was born June 23, 1935, in Plainfield, Indiana, to the late Gayeton H. and Mabel Ruth (Davis) Sater. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an electronics technician aboard the USS Princeton.
Following his military service, Gary devoted 38 years to the A1 Compressor Company, where he retired as a service manager and supervisor in 1997. Known for his expertise and reliability, he was admired and respected in his profession.
Gary was a man of faith and attended New Life Community Wesleyan Church in Mooresville with his wife, Lois. Earlier in life, he has attended the Plainfield Friends Meeting.
He was a gifted mechanic and car enthusiast, taking great pride in his vehicles—especially the two Corvettes he owned. Gary loved polishing, tinkering with, and driving his cars, especially at exhilarating speeds. He also found joy in working outdoors, tending to his yard, and lending a helping hand to family and friends. Traveling with his loved ones was a special source of happiness for Gary, and he treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A dedicated and loyal man, he touched the lives of those around him through his kindness and generosity.
For over three decades, Gary was a devoted viewer of “Through the Bible with Les Feldick”, which became a source of spiritual comfort and learning.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Lois (Schlegel) Sater; his children, Gary (Deborah) Sater and Angela (Jim) Whitney; his stepchildren, LeAnn Miles, Dan Robertson, Christie Rowe, Bonnie Hunter, and Tressa Wright; his grandchildren, Amanda Black, Brandon Gardner, Cheyenne Whitney, Ella Whitney, and Sophia Whitney; several step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, including Emmett and Taelyn; and his first wife, Juanita Maier.
