Fr. Peter L. Peretti

Obituary

Father Peter L. Peretti (Chee Chee), 76, of Greensburg, formerly of Uniontown, died on Tuesday,
January 30, 2024.
He was born May 3, 1947, son of the late Pete and Mary (Moore) Peretti.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy at Saint Francis, Loretto, and major seminary also
at Saint Francis Seminary, Loretto. When he was young, he was a cook in the tobacco fields and when he was in the seminary, he worked with his dad at Christy Park Steel Mill.
He was ordained to the Priesthood on May 5, 1973, at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.
He served as Parochial Vicar at Mount St. Peter Parish, New Kensington (1973-75), Our Lady of
Grace Parish, Greensburg (1975-81), St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, North Huntingdon (1981),
Holy Family Parish, Latrobe (1981-82), and St. Therese, Little Flower of Jesus Parish,
Uniontown (1982-84); Pastor, former St. Gertrude Parish, McIntyre, and its mission at St.
Anthony, Aultman (1984-86), former Assumption Parish, Ernest (1986-87), St. Vincent de Paul
Parish, Leisenring, and its former mission St. Polycarp, West Leisenring (1987-2003), St.
Ambrose Parish, Avonmore, and Administrator of St. Matthew, Saltsburg (2003-07), St.
Procopius, New Salem, and Administrator of St. Thomas, Footedale (2007-13), St. Mary,
Uniontown (2013-2018). Father Peretti retired from active ministry in 2018, with a residence at
the Neumann House in Greensburg.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Peretti. He is survived by his
sisters, Christina Bonner and husband Richard of Ralph, and Annette Petrovich and husband
John of Chestnut Ridge, PA. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Scott Wible of
Brownsville, PA, Lori Cerja and husband Mark of Willow Park, TX, Lisa Wible of Ralph, PA,
Anthony Petrovich and wife Heather of Dunbar, PA, Joseph and wife Renee of Chestnut Ridge,
PA, Johnetta Statler and husband Dustin of Mosely, VA, great nieces and nephews who he
adored, Jacob and Kane Wible of Harrisburg, PA, Hunter, Evan, and Emma Petrovich of Dunbar,
PA, Dominic Petrovich of Chestnut Ridge, PA, and Daxtin Statler of Mosely, VA. He is also
survived by his dear friend, Father Rudolph Koser of Las Vegas, NV.
Viewing will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N Gallatin Ave Ext.
Uniontown, PA 15401 on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Nativity Church located at 61 N Mt. Vernon Ave,
Uniontown, PA 15401 on Wednesday February 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St.
Hedwig Cemetery in Smock, PA.
