Obituary
Forrest W. “Frosty”
Long of Boalsburg, PA passed July 16, 2022 at the age of 90. He was born in
Lehighton, PA November 3, 1931 to the late John and Estella Long.
Frosty was a 1949
graduate of Lehighton High School and went on to earn his Bachelors of Science
in Agriculture in 1954 and his Masters of Science in Agronomy in 1976, both
from the Pennsylvania State University. In December 1962 he married Judith A.
Weaver who survives at home.
Frosty served in the
United States Air Force from January 1954 to January 1956. He was stationed
with the North East Air Command. He served in the Air National Guard from
January 1956 to 1975. He was active duty during the Berlin Crisis 1961 to 1962
and from 1964 to 1965 he was stationed at Kessler Air Force Base. He was
employed in the Agronomy Department at Penn State for 12 years and in the
Office of the Physical Plant for 13 years, retiring in December 1991. He was a
member of Zion Lutheran Church, Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 700 and the Phi
Sigma Society. He was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association, the
American Legion Post 779 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks
Lodge 1600 where he also served as a past Exalted Ruler. In his spare time
Frosty enjoyed hunting, baseball and running.
Frosty is survived by
his wife of 59 years, Judith; daughter, Kimberly A. Graham and her husband
Jacob of State College, PA; sons, Scott T. Long of Pittsburgh, Ryan J. Long and
his wife Christy of Eugene, OR and Corey L. Long and his wife Melissa of Point Pleasant,
NJ and grandchildren, Meghan and Brett Graham and Forrest and Evelyn Long.
Visitation will be
held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church 105 Old Boalsburg Rd.
Boalsburg, PA 16827 from 10:00AM – 11:00AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am.
Internment will take place at Boalsburg Cemetery
