Obituary
Evelyn Mayer Fulton, 75 years old, was born in Manhattan and died January 2, 2025 in Deland, Florida. She grew up in Queens and graduated from Christ the King High School where she was much later inducted into its Hall of Fame. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on April 23, 2025 in the clubhouse of Four Seasons Condominiums in Deland.
She earned bachelor's and master's degrees, and a professional diploma in administration from Hunter College. She started her teaching career in East Harlem in Manhattan and progressed from classroom teacher to reading specialist to staff developer to assistant principal to Principal - at PS 178 in the Bronx. At the time of her retirement in 2011 she was the longest standing elementary school Principal in the City of New York.
Evelyn enjoyed the theater, Broadway, the Athens in Deland, and summer stock in the Berkshires. She loved her vacation home in Otis, Massachusetts where she and her husband Donald built decades of memories. They travelled extensively – Antarctica, the Amazon,
Alaska, and Australia (and that’s just the A’s).
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Eva Mayer. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald, daughter, Deirdre, son-in-law, Keagan McDonough, two beautiful grandchildren, Cormac and Rosalind, her sister, Madeline Bogdan, and nieces and nephews.
If you are moved to make a donation in her name, Saint Jude's Children Research Hospital was her preferred charity
