In Loving Memory of

Elmer Harris

July 22nd, 1931 - September 27th, 2023

Obituary

Elmer Harris, 92, went to be with Jesus on September 27, 2023. Elmer was born to the late Walter and Florence Harris in Sassafras, Kentucky on July 22, 1931.
Elmer was married to his late wife, Joan (Owens) Harris, for 68 years. Elmer’s love for his wife and family was only second to his love for Jesus Christ. Elmer was a pillar of strength and demonstrated grace and kindness to everyone he encountered. His demeanor was quiet, but he had unshakeable faith and never missed an opportunity to pray and share Jesus with those around him.

While Elmer can be described as quiet, he never missed an opportunity to dance with his wife as he loved to see her smile. The way Elmer and Joan loved one another was nothing short of beautiful . Elmer is survived by his children E. Curtis (Judy) Harris, Carolynn Jo (Billy) Hobson, Marcus Ray (Patty) Harris, Michael DeWayne (Babette) Harris; his siblings Fran Jackson, Faye Owens, Jo Stanifer, Larry Harris, Toni Mallott, Sandra Hopkins, and Pat Wagner; his grandchildren Luke Harris, Jess Harris, Michaela Leonard, Aaron Harris, Brian Hobson, Abby Strehle, Cara Kraft, Joshua Bourff, Caitlynn Bourff, Corey Harris, Haley Harris, Emily Harris, Chrissy Schnakenberg, Michael Harris; and 15 great-grand-children. Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister Jean Holcomb and grandson Tim Wallace.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3rd at Redeemer Bible Church. Burial service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
