Obituary
Eleanor L. "Ellie" McCann, 95 of Bargersville passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. She was born to the late Arley and Gladys Guynn.
Ellie lived a full life and had many friends, sharing with all of them her amazing, full-hearted and contagious laugh. She was an avid reader and letter writer, and she had a very long Christmas card list. Through her “card ministry,” Ellie sent cards to hundreds of people each year for birthdays, graduations, holidays, and sometimes just because. Ellie wrote heartfelt messages inside each card: being connected to others really mattered to her.
Ellie traveled to at least 28 countries and visited all 50 US states. She collected both people and objects, making friends around the world and bringing home souvenirs, including spoons, thimbles, glass, turquoise jewelry, and sculptures. She was an avid reader and delighted in going for walks on sunny days and in eating a good slice of pizza and drinking a cold beer. She also loved Michael J. Fox and Elvis Presley.
Ellie was a member of First Christian Church of Bargersville for many years and found a spiritual home and community there.
Ellie is survived by her daughter Carol (Richard) Jones; five grandchildren Amanda (Dan) Moisoff, Cinda (Ryan) Lybarger, Angie (Jacob) Comley, Brandon McCann and Grace Jones; nine great grandchildren Jacqlynn Newsom, Eleanor Lybarger, Cole Lybarger, Kevin Robb, Conner McCann, Ciera McCann, Kenzie McCann, Gavin McCann and Liam McCann. She was preceded in death by both parents and a son, Ronald McCann.
Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2024 from 11:00 am until the time of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Ellie will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
