Obituary
Delores Stuard was a tremendously kind, dedicated, hardworking woman. She was a person who gave freely, and forgave easily, without judgement. She was born in a house at 1223 Exeter St in Indianapolis, March 29, 1929. The oldest of three sisters, Myrtle was born 2nd four years later and sister Sandy born third another four years later. They were born to Charles W. Banks and Elsie Keller Banks. She passed easily, with her two daughters Karen & Jeanne at her side, on December 11, 2024 at the age of 95.
She graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in May of 1947 and married the love of her life, Lewis Stuard, January 30, 1948.
Their first born, Steve, brought an extra birthday gift, being born on Delores’ birth month & date, March 29, 1949. She and Louie brought three more children into this world, Jeanne, Brian and Karen. They are a tribute to their parents and blessings to this world.
Her 10 Grandchildren are: Tony, Heather, Michael, Anthony, Eric, Nick, Jeremiah, Twyla, Austin, Ezra. 20 Great Grandchildren: Ariel, Jess, Hannah, Jake, Grace, Lilith, Alexis, Aidan, Joey, Sophia, Chloe, Layla, Vince, Chase, Keeley, Teagan, Letty, Alivia, David, Alex; 4+ Great-grandchildren, Everett, Lennox, Dalton, Aida, with two more currently on the way.
Delores was an intelligent, ordered working woman, with a profound work ethic. Working and raising 4 children, along with all else she did. At an early age she worked for the Ransburg Corporation then at Colonial Arts in the Fountain Square Bldg. for some 40 years, running and managing the three-businesses owned by Mrs. Alice Wheatly. Then worked for Leader Printing after Mrs. Wheatly sold her business. Delores finished her working life at the age of 70 at Johnson Control as an Administrative Assistant for five engineers. She retired to stay at home and take care of her husband Louie, who had been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Delores loved crafts, music while playing her organ, cards especially euchre, pottery, people, parties, dancing, sports, reading and her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren…..any baby or dog. She always had a dog in her house.
Mom is survived by her grown children Steve (Evie), Jeanne, Brian (Sue), and “The Baby”, Karen (John); her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren…all totaling 40 people as her legacy.
Preceding in death are her husband Lewis, parents Elsie and Charles Banks, sisters Myrtle Banks Walker and Sandy Banks Clem.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens following the services.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 8:00 pm, Monday, December 16, 2024 at the funeral home.
