Obituary
Charles Arthur McAllister Sr., 77 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV.
Charles was born on October 12, 1946 in Colliers, WV. He was the son of the late James McAllister and Irene (Thompson) McAllister.
Charles served proudly in the United States Navy receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 34, Wellsburg, where he served as Commander from 1989-1993 in addition to volunteering as a member of the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. Charles retired after 30 years of service from Windsor Coal Company working as a Roof Bolter and Track Maintenance. Many will remember Charles for his work with the American Legion, being proud of his military service, fixing and mastering anything from Automotive to Small Engine Repair; but most of all, his dedication to Wellsburg through the Brooke County Boaters and Anglers Association, he and his friends founded to build the Wellsburg boat launch and docks located at 12th Street, Wellsburg.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Bennett Grace McAllister and eight siblings, James, Virginia Fletcher, Ethel, Fred, Edward and Helen McAllister, Shirley Staten, and an infant sister, Charlotte.
Charles is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Judy Ann (Manuel) McAllister, two sons, Randy McAllister and his spouse, Darlene of Carnegie, PA and Charles A. McAllister Jr. and his spouse, Stacey of Wellsburg, WV, six grandchildren, Zach, Anthony Amber and her finance’ Dakota, Amanda, Riley and Brody McAllister, four siblings, Albert (Maryann) McAllister of Follansbee, WV, Theodore (Phyllis) McAllister, Joseph (Margaret) McAllister, all of Wellsburg, WV and David (Sharyn) McAllister of Weirton, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Pastor Rudy McAllister, officiating.
Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV with Military Honors by the United States Navy and his comrades of the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
