Obituary

Bettey J. (Spicer) Tyson, 92, of Bellefonte, passed away December 15, 2024. She was born in Benner Township, PA on September 6, 1932 to the late Arthur E. and Ruth (Biddle) Spicer. In 1951 she married Eugene B. Tyson.

Bettey worked for many years in the food service department at the Pennsylvania State University until her retirement. She was an active member of Shiloh Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed flowers and gardening, quilting and crocheting.

Along with her parents and husband of 72 years, Bettey was preceded in death by her siblings, Earl Spicer, Edna Thompson, Pearl Corman and Joseph Spicer. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth L. Tyson (Beth) of Lewistown, PA and Boyd L. Tyson (Cathy) of Bellefonte, PA; sisters, Adeline Schaffer of Mill Hall, PA, Elma Reese of Centre Hall, PA, Virginia Masullo of Centre Hall, PA and Dorothy Howes of West Jordan, UT; brothers, James Spicer (Sharon) of Centre Hall, PA, Arthur J. Spicer (Ann) of Lewistown, PA, Ronnie Spicer (Cynthia) of Centre Hall, PA and Roy Spicer (Mary) of Centre Hall, PA; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 24, 2024 from 10:00am – 11:00am at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Interment will be private at Centre County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bettey’s honor to the Shiloh Lutheran Church, 801 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801.
