Obituary

Bette Jean Armstrong, a cherished mother, grandmother, and devoted community member, passed away peacefully in Dunkirk, Indiana, on August 27, 2024. She was 83 years old.
Born in Muncie, Indiana, on December 5, 1940, Bette was the daughter of Floyd E. and Maria L. (Sears) Martin, who preceded her in death. She was married to Jerry Armstrong from 1980 until his passing in 2012.
Bette worked as a nurse’s aide for many years, most recently at Persimmon Ridge, where she was known for her compassionate care. She also devoted several years to Indiana Glass Factory. In her personal life, Bette found joy in playing cards, especially Hand and Foot, and she deeply valued her time spent with family.
She is survived by her son, Dale Shaw (wife, Jan); daughters, Laurie Talavera (husband, Dennis), Cindy Yaney (husband, Brian) Tanya Dahlenburg (husband, Dwayne); and son-in-law, Dan Livingston; and brother, Sonny Martin (wife, Sue); 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Pam Bunch.
Bette is preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Jerry Armstrong; daughter, Jeanette Shaw-Livingston; and sister, Billie Edmundson; and husband, Bill Williamknight.
Family and friends may call at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N St. Rd. 3, Muncie IN 47303, on Friday, September 6th, 2024 from 11:00 - 1:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Garden View Funeral Home; online condolences can be made at www.gardenviewandgardensofmemory.com.

We have been friends since the third grade we had a lot of fun after school she will be missed she was a good cook we would have potato soup o school before her Mother got home I stopped after school her mom said Bette was in the hospital I-brought her some dandelion I thought she was sick had them behind my back dropped them didn’t want her mom see them I told Bette she just laughed Iona Garrett
