Obituary
Barbara Louise Hiller (nee Lloyd), passed away peacefully at
Country Meadows Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg, PA, on August 7, 2024 with family by her side.
Barbara was born in Harrisburg, PA on July 26, 1928,
daughter of the late Paul and Mary Lloyd. Barbara attended Harrisburg schools
graduating from John Harris High School. She was active in Girls Scouts,
including working as a camp counselor at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. She
graduated from Mary Washington College and went to work at Calvert Distillers
in Baltimore, MD where she met her husband, Jim. They were married in September
1952. In 1961, after Jim was transferred to the Seagram offices in NYC, they
relocated to Ridgewood, NJ with their two daughters.
Barbara was active with the Women’s Group at Ridgewood
Methodist Church. She also continued her involvement with Girl Scouts, serving
as troop leader for both her daughters. Barbara loved sewing clothes as well as
making beautiful quilts. She also restored many pieces of furniture.
In 1986, after Jim’s retirement, they relocated to State
College, PA in close proximity to her beautiful Mt. Nittany. She became very
active in the Women’s Club where she worked in the thrift shop doing displays,
leading craft classes, and was always an eager contributor to the Holiday
Bazaars.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Susan (Pete) Murray
and Mary (Michael) Scheffey; grandchildren, Jennifer (Darren) Ham, Kevin
(Michelle) Murray and Stacy Scheffey; and great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Emily
and Michael Ham and Kaylee and Elliott Murray. Barbara is also survived by her
sister, Margaret Adam as well as two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
beloved husband, Jim; grandson, Brian Murray; brother, Wallis Lloyd and his
wife, Patricia and nephews, Paul and Brian Lloyd.
Barbara’s family is very grateful to the staff of Country
Meadows for the care she received.

memorial service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00am at the Haky/Georgiana
Centre County Funeral Home 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Inurnment
will take place at the convenience of the family at Centre County Memorial
Park, College Township, Centre County, PA.
