Obituary

Anna June Weller Pugh, of Weirton, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, December 20, 2024. She was ninety-eight years old.
Born December 4, 1926, in Johnstown, PA, she was a daughter of Dr. Robert and June Barry Weller.
A 1944 graduate of Boswell High School, Anna married the love of her life, Walter Harold Pugh, in 1947. Together, they shared 49 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love and dedication to their family and community.
Anna was a woman of strong faith and a dedicated member of her church. She devoted her life to serving others, embodying kindness and generosity in all she did. Her career as an admittance clerk in the ER at Weirton Medical Center showcased her care and compassion for those around her. Beyond her professional life, Anna touched countless lives through her volunteer work, whether as a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout leader, or through her beloved sewing hobby. Her handmade stuffed bears brought joy and comfort to children at Weirton Medical Center.
Anna had a lifelong love of learning, especially in her devotion to the Bible, historical biographies, Books about the Amish, and anything related to sewing. She cherished her dream of becoming an English teacher and instilled in her children a love of language and the importance of proper grammar.
Her sweet nature and sharp mind made her a joy to be around, whether reading to children at the Weirton Library, sharing stories of her grandchildren, or watching her favorite game shows like *Jeopardy*.
Her greatest joy came from her family, always eager to hear their stories and see their photos. A proud and loving matriarch, Anna's family was the heart of her world.
Anna was also known for her generous contributions to many charities, her love of sharing wisdom, and her unwavering commitment to her faith. She lived a life that exemplified Christian values, touching the lives of all who knew her with her sweetness, warmth, and grace.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Harold Pugh, sisters Florence Szoch and Alice Sanders, grandson Jeffrey David Pugh, and great-grandson Carter Henderson.
Cherishing her memory with Love and Admiration are her Children, David (Allison) Pugh of Kentucky, Kimberly Rager of Wellsburg, Diana Camilletti of Weirton, sister Margaret Pugh of Monroeville, nine grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Friends can visit Anna's family on Monday, December 23, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, from 11 am to the time of her 1 pm funeral service.
